ZooBoo at The Indianapolis Zoo

Summary:
Mark your calendars for ZooBoo presented by Central Indiana Honda Dealers! This family favorite expands to five nights per week in 2020 (Wednesday-Sunday) Oct. 7-Nov. 1 — including Halloween night! Activities run 2-7pm and are open until 9pm on Friday and Saturday. Volunteer opportunities are available each night of the event! ZooBoo Member Preview On Monday, Oct. 5 and Tuesday, Oct. 6, Zoo members will have an opportunity to preview ZooBoo activities before the event opens to the general public. Select ZooBoo attractions will be available from 2-7pm. Shift times vary based on the day of the week and other event needs. Most shifts are 1:30-4:30/5:30pm, 4-7pm or 5-9pm. Volunteer opportunities include: • Animal Barn Host: Welcome guests to Jack’s Barn. Monitor one-way traffic flow through building. Keep an eye on the animals – ensure guests do not tap on the glass or touch the animals. • Mystery Maze Operator: Distribute paper and golf pencils for guests to record answers to riddles spread throughout the maze. Encourage guests to walk through the straw maze. • Pumpkin School Assistant: Provide guests with a fun experience that will showcase a fun science experiment. Pulse families into Pumpkin School to learn the science experiment from Professor Pumpkin. Keep the area tidy by assisting with cleaning between groups. Maintain one-way traffic through Pumpkin School. • Trick or Treat Trail Assistant: Distribute treats or treat bags to young guests. Ensure guest safety by offering allergy-free or non-food alternatives. Direct guests through the one-way Trick or Treat Trail path. This assignment is divided into: Candy Station Host Entrance to Trick or Treat Trail Exit to Trick or Treat Trail Hand Out Candy Bags Volunteer attire for the event is a solid-color shirt and khaki or black pants and a Zoo-branded or solid-color mask. All Volunteers will be given a ZooBoo specific lanyard to wear and return at the end of their shift. Halloween costumes/accessories may not be worn by volunteers during the event. Please be prepared to complete tasks outdoors in all weather conditions and following appropriate social distancing measures. All ZooBoo and Member Preview shifts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals and group members ages 16 and older are eligible to volunteer.
